New Conventional-tillage Tool

Save on fuel and time with the Blu-Jet BT Conquest, a new primary tillage tool from Thurston Manufacturing Company. Designed to meet the challenges of producers who practice conventional tillage, the BT Conquest combines soil mixing with root ball destruction while maintaining a reasonable 20-hp/ft. draft requirement.
The new short-coupled tillage tool employs coulters spaced 15 in. apart for residue sizing. Depth-controlled chisel points on spring mounts penetrate up to 12 in. deep to boil the soil and displace massive Bt root balls. Offset discs independently mounted on a hydraulically adjustable bar blend the residue into the soil. For leveling, buyers have a choice between a tine harrow and rolling basket.
The BT Conquest saves producers time by combining the fall chisel and fall disk pass into one operation. “Because deep compaction layers normally take three to five years to develop in most soil types, under average conditions, running a Blu-Jet BT Conquest with the shallower chisel shank and then employing a Blu-Jet SubTiller only in the years when it is actually needed will result in big fuel savings and a big yield response for most farmers,” says Nick Jensen, chief marketing officer at Thurston Manufacturing Company.
List prices for the BT Conquest range from $38,500 for a 9S15 with rigid-mounted shanks to $47,000 for a 13S15 with spring-mounted shanks. For more information, contact Thurston Manufacturing Company, Dept. FIN, Box 218,
